Dr. Luke Robinson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Southern Methodist University (SMU), College of Humanities and Sciences. He serves as Director of the Minor in Ethics and contributes to interdisciplinary programs through his role on the Faculty Advisory Board for SMU’s Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility.

His research focuses on metaethics and normative ethics, particularly the dispositional metaphysics of morality. Key areas include moral principles, conflicts of obligation, and the debate between generalism and particularism in ethics.
Dr. Robinson’s publications explore themes like moral absolutism, the nature of moral laws, and the application of dispositional metaphysics to ethical reasoning. His work bridges philosophical theory with practical moral dilemmas.
He teaches courses in ethics, moral philosophy, and legal philosophy, including PHIL 3380 – Ethics: Morality, Self-Interest, and Justice and PHIL 3375 – Topics in Moral Philosophy: The Ethics of Pleasure and Pain.
