Dr. Luke Blunden is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Energy and Climate Change Group and the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute. His research focuses on renewable energy transitions, environmental sustainability, and marine energy systems. Key areas include renewable energy infrastructure in refugee camps, tidal turbine technology, and solar PV applications. He collaborates on projects funded by EPSRC and others, including tidal power-flood alleviation integration and sustainable energy access in developing regions.
Recent work includes studies on fossil fuel replacement in refugee camps, experimental analysis of tidal turbines, and satellite-based solar PV assessments. His contributions span peer-reviewed articles, conference proceedings, and institutional sustainability reports. Dr. Blunden currently supervises one PhD student, Rodolfo Olvera Trejo, in the Engineering and Environment faculty.
