Professor Luke Bereznicki is a pharmacist and academic leader at the University of Tasmania, serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) and Professor of Pharmacy. He holds roles in both leadership and research, focusing on medication safety, pharmacy education, and translational research. His career includes positions as Head of Pharmacy, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, and Dean of Learning and Teaching Performance in the College of Health and Medicine. He has overseen the health curriculum for ~15,000 students across 60+ programs.
His research emphasizes improving medication safety and practice through clinical interventions, such as pharmacist-led services in aged care and emergency departments. He has published over 240 peer-reviewed papers and secured >$13.5M in research funding. Key projects include the ReMInDAR trial (reducing adverse drug events in aged care) and asthma control initiatives. He co-directed the Unit for Medication Outcomes Research and Education and has supervised 18 doctoral candidates, many now leaders in academia and clinical practice.
Prof. Bereznicki’s leadership extends to accreditation of health programs, curriculum design (e.g., Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours, Advanced Practice postgraduate program), and national roles in professional organizations.
