Lukas Mayr is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Essex. He holds a PhD from the European University Institute and teaches intermediate and advanced macroeconomics courses. His academic support hours are available by appointment on Tuesdays (14:00-15:45).
Research Focus
Mayr's research spans taxation policy, labor economics, and macroeconomic dynamics:
- Capital taxation with trickle-down effects
- Inheritance tax impacts on labor supply
- Intergenerational employment correlations
- European unemployment insurance design
- Financial frictions and resource allocation
Supervision
Currently supervising PhD candidate Panupong Sukkerd on topics connecting technological change with labor markets and economic performance.
