Luisa Biondi is an Associate Professor of Special Zootechnics (AGR 19) at the University of Catania (UNICT), Italy, affiliated with the Department of Animal Production within the Faculty of Agriculture. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Sustainability of Animal Production Systems (bachelor's), Authentication of Animal Products (master's), and Seafood Quality (bachelor's since 2024-2025). She has supervised numerous theses, including 8 Agris Mundus M.Sc. theses and 1 AgTraIn Ph.D. thesis.
- Doctorate: Ph.D. in Animal Production in Disadvantaged Areas (1993)
- Current Research: Focuses on animal production systems, emphasizing the use of local feed resources, plant secondary compounds, and nutritional/nutraceutical properties of sheep milk/meat
- Leadership Roles: Coordinator for UNICT in the JESMED Italy-Tunisia project, member of the Di3A board (2022-present), former Erasmus delegate
Her research spans national (6 as scientific leader) and international projects (7th FP, Core Organic, Jesmed), resulting in 47 ISI journal publications (H-index 23, Scopus 2025). Awards include the 2022 National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor in Animal Sciences and Technologies. She has held administrative roles such as deputy director of DACPA (2002-2005), head of Animal Production Division (2008-2010), and internationalization delegate at Di3A (2019-2022).
