Luis Fargier-Gabaldón is an Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame's College of Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. He has served as Edward Curtis Visiting Professor at Purdue University and held academic positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Universidad de los Andes. As an engineer of record for over 1 million square feet of bridges and buildings, he actively consults for the construction industry.
His research focuses on bridge engineering, structural systems, soil-structure interaction, retrofitting, and historic structures. He integrates academic rigor with extensive industry experience to advance civil infrastructure resilience.
Prof. Fargier-Gabaldón received the inaugural Massman-Beavers Heavy Civil Engineering Professorship. His work emphasizes practical applications, including student projects like cable-stayed and truss bridge construction.
