Luin Goldring is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at York University, affiliated with the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLAC). She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Development Sociology from Cornell University, and a B.A. in Anthropology from California State University. Her research focuses on immigration, citizenship, precarious work, and transnational migration. Goldring's work critically examines the intersections of legal status, labor markets, and policy impacts on marginalized migrant communities. She has published extensively on topics such as non-citizen inclusion/exclusion, temporary labor programs, and the socio-economic consequences of precarious legal status. Her teaching includes courses on migration and transnationalism, reflecting her commitment to understanding global mobility dynamics. Goldring’s research has been featured in prominent journals and media outlets like the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail. She actively engages with policy debates, advocating for equitable immigration frameworks and social justice for migrant populations.
