Ludovico Feoli is a Research Professor at Tulane University and Executive Director of the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR), part of the Stone Center for Latin American Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science (2007), M.A. in Latin American Studies (2002), and B.A. in Economics (1985) from Tulane and Claremont McKenna College. His career bridges academia and public policy, with over 15 years in Costa Rica’s private sector before transitioning to academia.
Feoli’s research focuses on governance, political economy, and institutional reform in Latin America, particularly Costa Rica. Key areas include legislative efficiency, energy sector transformation, and the impact of social movements on policy. He has advised on structural reforms, including Costa Rica’s pension system and financial sector modernization. His work with CIAPA and Tulane has strengthened inter-American research collaborations.
Teaching emphasizes global environmental politics, Latin American development, and Central American socio-political dynamics. Awards include the Richard Greenleaf Award (2002) and Stone Center Best Graduate Paper (2004). His research projects address poverty, inequality, and policy responses to social movements in extractive industries. Feoli leads the CIPR and oversees CIAPA’s Costa Rica campus, fostering academic partnerships and policy analysis.
