Lucy Ward

Lucy Ward is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Drawing Lead for the School of Arts at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). She is a founder member of the Drawing Research Group at UWE and specializes in exploring intersections between mathematical systems of pattern construction and philosophical concepts of repetitive behaviors. Her work also emphasizes surface pattern design.

Research Interests: Lucy's practice investigates the symbiotic relationship between mathematical structures and artistic expression, particularly focusing on how repetitive routines and philosophical inquiry shape visual patterns. Her studio work at Jamaica Street Studios in Bristol reflects this interdisciplinary approach, blending scientific rigor with creative innovation.

Teaching and Leadership: As Drawing Lead, she oversees curriculum development and pedagogical strategies in creative practice at the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries, and Education (ACE). Her role integrates both theoretical and hands-on approaches to art education.
