Lucy Rodgers is a Clinical PhD Fellow and HARP Clinical Research Fellow at City, University of London, with over 15 years of NHS experience as a paediatric speech and language therapist. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, focusing on speech sound disorders (SSD) and developmental language disorders (DLD) in early childhood. She also champions diversity in patient and public involvement (PPIE) and advocates for under-represented communities in research.
- Qualifications: Introductory Certificate in Academic Practice (Distinction), MSc Psychology (Distinction), BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy.
Her research emphasizes co-developing interventions with mixed steering groups of professionals and individuals with lived experience, culminating in community-based PPIE activities and post-doctoral trials. Lucy collaborates with the Bristol Speech and Language Therapy Unit, the only NHS research center for SLT in the UK.
Scientific awards include recognition from the NHS Leadership Academy, Wellcome Trust, and HEE-NIHR funding programs. She currently serves as an Honorary Speech and Language Therapist at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust and a Visiting Clinical Tutor at City, University of London.
Lucy is committed to integrating clinical expertise into intervention design and expanding equitable research participation through training in methodological innovation (DECIPHer Network), community engagement (Leicester University), and mixed methods (University of Oxford).
