Dr Lucy Oldfield is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the Department of Psychology, Goldsmiths, University of London. She co-directs the MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology & Health Services programme and brings over a decade of clinical experience from the NHS and private sector. Her work focuses on empirically supported psychological interventions, particularly for anxiety and mood disorders. Prior to her academic career, she served as a Metropolitan Police Officer, achieving the rank of Detective Sergeant.
- Education: Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (2013, King’s College London); Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2012, University College London); MA in Experimental Psychology (2002, University of Oxford).
Her research emphasizes mental health service evaluation, clinical supervision, and the application of music therapy to treat generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in rural remote workers. Recent work demonstrates significant reductions in anxiety and depression symptoms via structured music therapy interventions. She is affiliated with the Forensic and Clinical Science Group and actively contributes to institutional wellbeing initiatives, including designing staff workshops for mental health culture improvement.
Lucy supervises undergraduate and postgraduate projects focused on mental health and second-supervises PhD research with clinical/forensic applications. Her professional roles include Short Course Trainer and Staff Wellbeing Consultant at Goldsmiths, alongside her academic responsibilities.
