Lucy Noakes is a Professor of History at the University of Essex's School of Philosophical, Historical, and Interdisciplinary Studies. She specializes in the social and cultural history of modern warfare, particularly the First and Second World Wars, with a focus on death, grief, gender, and memory. Her current roles include Director of Research and Director of the Centre for Public History. She holds a BA and DPhil from the University of Sussex.
