Professor Lucy Munro is a Professor of Shakespeare and Early Modern Literature at King's College London, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and the Department of English. She co-directs the Shakespeare Centre London and holds leadership roles in scholarly societies including the Marlowe Society of America. Her research focuses on early modern literature, theatre history, and the interplay between old and new cultural forms. She earned her BA at the University of Manchester, and MA/PhD at King’s College London.
Her research interests span Shakespearean and early modern drama, textual editing, genre theory, gender studies, and the cultural histories of childhood and ageing. Notable works include *Children of the Queen’s Revels* (2005), *Archaic Style in Early Modern Literature* (2013), and *Shakespeare in the Theatre: The King’s Men* (2020). She has edited major texts like *The Witch of Edmonton* and is currently working on a new history of the Globe and Blackfriars playhouses.
Professor Munro has led major funded projects including 'Engendering the Stage' (Leverhulme Trust) and 'Before Shakespeare' (AHRC). Her work bridges academic scholarship with public engagement, collaborating with institutions like Shakespeare’s Globe and contributing to media discussions on early modern culture.
