Lucy Kimbell is a Professor of Contemporary Design Practices at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Her work bridges design, policy, and innovation, focusing on democratic design, policy futures, and social design. She leads the Policy Futures Studio and co-founded the Collaboration Network for Sustainable Transitions. Her research explores design's role in public policy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the co-creation of socially impactful solutions.
Research & Projects:
- Co-investigator in ESRC-funded projects on Smart Regulation of Antibiotic Use in India and Next Generation Professional Service Firms.
- Authored/co-authored over 30 publications on design theory, policy design, and social innovation.
Affiliations & Activities:
- Member of Research Ethics Sub-Committee and Professoriate Committee at UAL.
- Supervised PhD students focusing on topics like feminist pension policies, climate transitions, and democratic design.
Teaching: Previously taught the MBA elective Designing Better Futures and currently supervises research-based degrees in design and policy domains.
