Lucy Parker is a PhD student at the University of Plymouth sponsored by the Ocean Energy Sector as Contribution Towards Carbon Neutrality (OcEn) project and a part-time Research Fellow at the University of Plymouth’s Centre for Coastal Communities (CfCC) on an ESRC-funded project.
Her educational background includes:

- Diploma in Public and Media Relations from the School of Journalism in Cardiff
- Master of Science in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics

Her research focuses on community engagement in offshore renewable energy development, conducting comparative analysis of community benefit schemes and designing community-centred programmes to reduce opposition. She also co-designs evidence-based classifications of English coastal communities for policy implementation, integrating social anthropology perspectives with practical stakeholder engagement strategies.
Lucy secures research funding through the OcEn project and ESRC grant, collaborating within international interdisciplinary teams across the OcEn initiative and Centre for Coastal Communities.
