Lucy Alexander serves as Curriculum Leader for Communication Design, Access and Progression to Higher Education at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, where she develops partnerships with cultural institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum, House of Illustration, and British Library Sound Archive to create live project opportunities for students.
Her educational background includes:
- MA Photography from the Royal College of Art
- BA (Hons) Print & Photomedia from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design
- PGCert in Creative Learning for Teaching in Art and Design from Central Saint Martins
Alexander's research explores how practice-based and social communities generate transformative experiences in art and design contexts, with emphasis on collectivity and connectivity in educational settings. Her experimental projects like Commune in the Futuro House investigate communal living frameworks and future-oriented idea generation through immersive student collaborations.
She co-founded the initiative onehundredandtwenty with Tim Meara to advance collaborative learning methodologies, presenting findings at Graphic Design Educators Network conferences (2016-2017) and the ELIA Academy (2017). Currently authoring a book on the Central Saint Martins Foundation course for Octopus Publishing (2019), her work bridges institutional partnerships with experimental pedagogy.
