Lucinda Leonard is an Associate Teaching Professor in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria. She serves as Honours Advisor and specializes in current tectonics of western North America with focus on seismic and tsunami hazard assessment.
Her research investigates active crustal faults in the Cascadia forearc region, combining field mapping, paleoseismic trenching, and geophysical methods. Key areas include characterizing Quaternary-active faults, evaluating tsunami sources from crustal faults and landslides, and understanding tectonic strain accumulation patterns.
Publications emphasize identifying and assessing seismic hazards in urban regions of British Columbia, including discovering previously unrecognized active faults near Victoria and analyzing landslide-generated tsunami potential in the Strait of Georgia.
