Christine Regalla

Christine Regalla is an Associate Professor at the School of Earth and Sustainability, Northern Arizona University (2024–present), with prior roles including Assistant Professor at NAU (2019–2024) and Boston University (2015–2019). Her research integrates structural geology, active tectonics, and tectonic geomorphology to study crustal deformation, focusing on fault slip timing, deformation dynamics, and subduction zone processes. She holds a PhD in Geosciences from Penn State University (2013), an MS (2009), and a BS (2005) from Lehigh University.

Her work investigates how landscape responses to fault slip complement seismic records, spatial/temporal deformation patterns, and micro-scale deformation mechanisms. Key projects include the SZ4D initiative, JTRACK IODP expedition, and studies of Cascadia and Japan Trench margins. Recent articles highlight subduction zone dynamics, fault rupture history, and collaborative field geoscience strategies.

Scientific awards include an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship at McGill University (2014–2015). She has advised multiple field-based research groups and contributed to grants exploring forearc deformation, seismic hazards, and interdisciplinary geoscience education. Her work often involves LiDAR analysis, paleoseismic trenching, and numerical modeling to unravel tectonic processes at continental and subduction margins.
