Luciana Quaranta is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at the Department of Economic History, Lund University. She is affiliated with the Centre for Economic Demography and the LU Profile Area: Proactive Ageing. Her research focuses on historical demography, exploring the links between early-life conditions and long-term health, well-being, and socioeconomic outcomes.

Quaranta's work uses detailed micro-level data to analyze macro-level societal developments, particularly in Sweden during the twentieth century. Her research areas include child health, gender roles, and the impact of public health interventions.
Her recent publications span topics like preschool attendance, maternal and infant health, and gender dynamics in industrial cities. Projects include collaborations with Swedish Research Council and Forte, addressing intergenerational health persistence and dementia research.
Scientific honors include the PAA Best Poster Award (2021), Thirsk-Feinstein Prize for best dissertation (2014), and Lund School of Economics and Management's Best Dissertation (2013).
She supervises PhD students, organizes workshops on health inequalities, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Italian Society for Historical Demography.
