Dr. Lucas van der Deijl is an Assistant Professor in Early Modern Dutch Literature at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. His research focuses on early modern language philosophy, translation culture, and theatre history, integrating computational methods with cultural and literary studies. He teaches courses in Dutch literature, digital humanities, and early modern studies. He is an editor for LitLab, a digital platform for literary research in secondary education, and has held fellowships at the National Library of the Netherlands and the University of Potsdam. His work explores topics such as Spinozist discourse in Dutch textual culture and the role of translation in disseminating Enlightenment ideas. Key publications include studies on computational analysis of early modern drama and the material culture of anatomical texts.
