Luca Gabutti

Luca Gabutti is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), serving as Vice-Dean and a member of the Institute of Family Medicine (IMF). He is also Head of the Internal Medicine Department at the Regional Hospital of Bellinzona (EOC). His academic journey includes studies in medicine at the University of Lausanne, an MD from the University of Bern, and advanced degrees (PD and Professorship) from the University of Lausanne.

Research focuses on electrolyte disturbances in hemodialysis, cardiovascular risk factors, hypertension, and healthcare quality assurance. He actively contributes to initiatives like Smarter Medicine – Choosing Wisely Switzerland and the Swiss Academy for Quality in Medicine.

Administratively, he chairs USI’s study and exam commissions and represents the university in federal medical education boards. Personal interests include beekeeping and family life.
