Sandro Bonetti

Sandro Bonetti is a Researcher at the Institute of Family Medicine (IMF) within the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). He is also a practicing family doctor in Dongio, Blenio Valley, where he operates a group medical cabinet with his wife and a colleague. Dr. Bonetti holds an MD from the University of Zurich (2002) and specializes in Internal Medicine (2008). He served as a senior physician at Acquarossa Hospital (2007) and Lucerne Cantonal Hospital (2009) before establishing his family medicine practice in 2010.

His clinical and research interests focus on neurology, abdominal ultrasound (certified 2009), and musculoskeletal ultrasound (certified 2022). He actively contributes to medical education, training students from the University of Bern and serving as an instructor for the Swiss Society of Internal Medicine (SIWF). Since 2022, he has taught in USI’s family medicine workshops. He chairs his regional medical association and sits on the board of Ticino’s medical order. He is a member of Medix Ticino, advocating for evidence-based, resource-efficient medicine.

Bonetti emphasizes hands-on teaching, hosting medical students for clinical rotations. Beyond medicine, he enjoys nature, particularly mushroom foraging in Ticino’s forests. Married since 2012, he has two children born in 2014 and 2017.
