Dr. Luc Furic is an Associate Professor (Research) and Senior Research Fellow at Monash University's Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, affiliated with the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. He leads the Prostate Cancer Laboratory, focusing on prostate cancer mechanisms, particularly the transition from hormone-sensitive to castration-resistant disease. His work employs biochemical and molecular biology approaches to understand survival signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms driving cancer progression.
Dr. Furic holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Montreal (2007). He has secured prestigious awards including the US DoD Postdoctoral Prostate Cancer Training Award (2009–2011), Canadian Cancer Society Fellowship (2008–2010), and ARC DECRA (2012–2015). His research spans translational control, ribosome biogenesis, and therapeutic targeting of MYC-driven cancers. He has led or co-led 12 projects, including initiatives on CAR T-cell therapy and ribosome inhibition therapies.
Key research interests include estrogen receptor α regulation in prostate cancer, translational buffering mechanisms, and combination therapies. His 51+ publications highlight contributions to prostate cancer biology, signaling pathways, and novel drug development. Collaborations span institutions globally, with a focus on prostate cancer and oncology.
