Dr. Lucía Berro Pizzarossa is a Research Fellow at Birmingham Law School and an Affiliated Researcher at Harvard Law School's Petrie-Flom Center. She holds a Ph.D. in International Law from the University of Groningen, an MJur from the University of Oxford, and an LL.B. from Universidad de la República, Uruguay. Her work focuses on abortion law, social movements, and human rights, employing a socio-legal approach to analyze legal frameworks' impacts on healthcare access.

Research interests include global abortion governance, SMA practices, and human rights law. Her British Academy-funded project explores the interplay between SMA and legal systems, challenging traditional medico-legal models. Recent work analyzes Africa's abortion access during the pandemic and evaluates Uruguay's legal reforms.
Awards include the Rubicon Grant (2020) and Distinguished Women Scientists Fund Prize (2019). She has collaborated with UNICEF, WHO, and grassroots organizations.
