Robert K. Goldman is Professor of Law and Louis C. James Scholar at American University Washington College of Law, serving as Faculty Director of the War Crimes Research Office and Co-Director of WCL’s Center For Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. A member of the faculty since 1971, he previously served as Acting Dean (1979-1980) and founded WCL’s International Legal Studies Program.

He also served as the UN Human Rights Commission’s Independent Expert on counter-terrorism (2004-2005) and remains active on the State Department’s Diplomatic Reception Room Fine Arts Committee.
He directs the War Crimes Research Office and co-leads the Center For Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, overseeing teams that shape global human rights standards through research, advocacy, and institutional partnerships.
