Louise Walker is an Associate Professor of History at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH). She specializes in Mexican and Latin American history, with a focus on economic justice, class dynamics, and archival research. Previously, she held faculty positions at Louisiana State University and the New School for Social Research. Her research has been supported by prestigious fellowships including the Berlin Prize and ACLS grants.
Walker earned her PhD in History from Yale University and a BA from McGill University. Her work explores themes such as economic conflicts, middle-class transformations, and the use of secret police archives. Key publications include Waking from the Dream: Mexico’s Middle Classes after 1968 (Stanford, 2013), which won multiple awards, and Debts Unpaid (forthcoming, Cambridge University Press).
Her research interests span the history of capitalism, social movements, and neoliberalism in Mexico. She teaches courses on colonial and modern Latin American history, natural disasters, and historical methodology.
