Louise C. Ivers is a Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Executive Director of the Center for Global Health at Mass General Hospital. She holds the David Bangsberg MD, MPH Endowed Chair in Global Health Equity. Her roles include leadership across the Harvard Global Health Institute and global health programs at Mass General, focusing on healthcare equity, infectious disease control, and humanitarian responses in resource-limited settings.
Dr. Ivers completed her medical training at University College Dublin, followed by residency at Mass General and infectious diseases fellowship at Harvard. She earned a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard and a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
Her research prioritizes barriers to healthcare access, food insecurity’s impact on health outcomes, and cholera prevention. She has led large-scale public health initiatives in Haiti, including cholera vaccine campaigns and responses to the 2010 earthquake. Her work integrates clinical practice, policy advocacy, and global partnerships, emphasizing equity in healthcare delivery and disaster response.
Dr. Ivers advises the WHO and Haitian Ministry of Health, collaborates with global organizations, and mentors future global health leaders. Her contributions span over 100 peer-reviewed papers and a textbook on food insecurity and public health.
