Louise Barry is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing & Midwifery at the University of Limerick (UL), and a member of the Ageing Research Centre. She holds a BSc in General Nursing (UL, 2007), a Higher Diploma in Rehabilitation for Older Persons, a Certificate in Nurse Prescribing, and an MSc in Health Sciences (Nurse/Midwifery Education). Her career spans clinical roles in public and private sectors focusing on older adult care, including four years as a CNM2 in clinical research.
Her research interests center on geriatric assessment in emergency departments, frailty screening, healthcare workforce experience, and randomized controlled trials in aging populations. She has contributed to high-impact studies such as the SOLAR trial and the frailty census in Irish hospitals. Key collaborative networks include the Ageing Research Centre and interdisciplinary clinical teams.
Louise’s recent publications (2023–2024) emphasize emergency department protocols, frailty assessment methodologies, and qualitative analyses of healthcare worker perspectives. She maintains an active research profile with 26 total outputs, including peer-reviewed articles and collaborative trials.
