Louise Anne Haagh is a Professor in the Department of Politics at the University of York, Faculty of Social Sciences. She is a British Academy Fellow and has held multiple ESRC-funded research projects, focusing on social policy, universal basic income, and systemic resilience. Her work bridges political theory and practical policy design, with significant engagement in international policy forums.
Her research interests include Political Theory, Universal Basic Income, Welfare State Reform, Justice and Feasibility, Systemic Resilience, and Global Social Policy. She explores how political institutions can design equitable and sustainable welfare systems, particularly in times of crisis.
The most recent publications show a strong trend toward integrating philosophical rigor with empirical policy analysis, particularly in the context of basic income debates and post-pandemic recovery. Her work increasingly engages with policy actors in the Global South and international organizations.
