Professor Louise Tillin is a Professor of Politics at the King’s India Institute, King’s College London. Her research focuses on Indian federalism, social policy, and political economy. She holds a DPhil in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, an MA in South Asia Regional Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in History from the University of Cambridge. Her recent book, *Making India Work: The Development of Welfare in a Multi-Level Democracy* (2025), examines the evolution of India’s welfare state. Tillin has led major research projects on subnational politics and social policy in India, including a Leverhulme Fellowship (2018–19) and Horizon 2020’s *Global India* initiative. She has also contributed to policy debates on federal intervention, health governance, and populism. Tillin’s work has been recognized with awards such as the John Kincaid Best Article Award (2022). She is affiliated with King’s Global Institutes and leads the Global South Research Group.
