Aseema Sinha is the Wagener Family Professor of Comparative Politics and George R. Roberts Fellow at Claremont McKenna College. Her research focuses on the political economy of India, India-China comparisons, globalization, and the role of international organizations in emerging powers.
- Education: B.A. from Lady Shri Ram College, M.A. and M.Phil. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Ph.D. from Cornell University.
Her recent work examines sectoral politics in India’s multi-level political economy, Modi’s economic reforms, and critical junctures in Asian state capacity. She has authored two books, including Globalizing India: How Global Rules and Markets are Shaping India's Rise to Power (2016).
- Scientific Awards: Joseph Elder Book Prize in the Indian Social Sciences for her first book.
Her publications span journals like British Journal of Political Science, World Development, and Comparative Political Studies, with recurring themes of federalism, subnational comparisons, and trade policy.
