Louis de Repentigny is a Full Professor at the Department of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology, University of Montreal. His research focuses on the immunopathogenesis of opportunistic fungal infections, particularly in the context of HIV infection. He works in the Roger-Gaudry Pavilion, conducting studies from his laboratory (R-621) to understand the interplay between host immunity and fungal pathogens.
Research Interests: His work investigates the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of opportunistic fungal infections. Key areas of interest include mucosal candidiasis, T cell dysfunction in HIV, and immune mechanisms that control chronic oral carriage of Candida albicans.
Publication Trends: His recent publications highlight investigations into how HIV-1 affects T cell responses (CD4+ and CD8+) in transgenic mouse models, leading to increased susceptibility to Candida infections. The studies integrate immunology, microbial pathogenesis, and animal models to explore host-pathogen interactions.
