Louis Gesualdi is a Professor in the Collins College of Professional Studies at St. John’s University. His work focuses on Sociology of Race, Class and Ethnicity, Peacemaking Criminology, and Ethics. He has authored influential books such as The Bad Things You Have Heard about Italian Americans Are Wrong (2014) and The Italian Immigrants of Connecticut, 1880 to 1940 (1997), the latter funded by a St. John’s University Summer Grant. His research has been recognized by grants including the Hibernian Research Award from the Cushwa Center.
Teaching interests include courses like Sociology of Prejudice & Discrimination and Italian American Experience, where he integrates his own research to enhance student writing and critical thinking skills. His academic journey includes a fellowship at Fordham University and affiliation with the John D. Calandra Institute.
