Dr. Saurabh Agarwal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John’s University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He holds an adjunct position at Baylor College of Medicine. His research focuses on pediatric neuroblastoma, particularly cancer stem cell biology and epigenetic mechanisms driving tumor growth, metastasis, and drug resistance. Dr. Agarwal’s work has led to clinical trials targeting G-CSF in neuroblastoma patients and discoveries of novel therapeutic targets like MLL1, JMJD3, and Menin-MLL1 interactions.
Education: Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (University of Lucknow), M.S. in Biochemistry (Jiwaji University). Postdoctoral training includes INSERM (Paris, 2009-2010) and Baylor College of Medicine (2011-2015).
Research interests include developing targeted therapies for high-risk neuroblastoma, exploring epigenetic regulators, and investigating cytokine signaling (e.g., G-CSF) in cancer progression. His lab at St. John’s is funded by grants from St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer, and institutional grants.
Awards include the St. Baldrick’s Scholar Career Development Award (2017), Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer Award, and INSERM Fellowship (2009-2010). He serves on editorial boards for Journal of Brain Tumors & Neuro-Oncology and Hematology and Blood Disorders, and reviews for over 20 journals.
Dr. Agarwal collaborates with institutions like Texas Children’s Cancer Center and actively participates in conferences (AACR, ANRA). His research has been covered in media and he engages in fundraising events for pediatric cancer awareness.
