Eveline Barbieri is an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, with dual appointments in the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Graduate Program in Cancer and Cell Biology. She holds a PhD in Oncology and Experimental Pathology (2010) and an MD in Pediatrics from the University of Bologna, Italy. Her research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of neuroblastoma oncogenesis, particularly the role of the MYCN oncogene in driving tumor metabolism and chemoresistance. Dr. Barbieri’s laboratory seeks to identify metabolic vulnerabilities for the development of novel therapies targeting high-risk MYCN-amplified tumors.
Key research interests include neuroblastoma biology, cancer metabolism, tumor microenvironment, and developmental therapeutics. She has received prestigious awards such as the American Cancer Society Scholar, St. Baldrick's Scholar, and Hyundai Hope on Wheels Scholar recognitions. Dr. Barbieri’s work bridges basic science and translational oncology, emphasizing metabolic reprogramming and circadian rhythm regulation in cancer progression.
Her publications highlight advancements in targeting MYCN-driven pathways, fatty acid metabolism, and molecular clock restoration in neuroblastoma. She collaborates widely, leveraging interdisciplinary approaches to tackle pediatric cancer challenges. Dr. Barbieri is fluent in Italian and maintains an active research lab at the Feigin Center in Houston, Texas.
