Elizabeth Albert is an Associate Professor at St. John’s University, teaching in the Department of Core Studies and Department of Art and Design. She holds a B.F.A. from Boston University and an M.F.A. from Queens College. Her work bridges art, architecture, environmental justice, and urban studies. Albert’s courses like Art & Environment: Coastal New York and global programs in Rome emphasize interdisciplinary connections between physical spaces and societal contexts.
Her research focuses on coastal ecosystems, urban waterfronts, and environmental remediation through art. She co-chairs the Antiracist Action Committee (ARC), integrating inclusive pedagogy into her teaching. Albert has exhibited nationally, with works in collections like the Butler Institute of American Art and Boca Raton Museum. Awards include NEA fellowships and Pollock-Krasner grants. She actively collaborates with NYC H2O and the Gowanus Canal Conservancy on environmental projects, merging artistic practice with community service.
