Dr. Lorna Turnbull is a Professor and former Dean at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law, where she also directs the Concentration in Access to Justice in French. She holds an Honours B.A. (Queen’s University), LL.B. (University of Ottawa), LL.M., and J.S.D. (Columbia University). Her teaching spans Legal Methods, Family Law, Human Rights, and Tax Law, with a focus on bilingual legal education. Research emphasizes gender equality, care work, economic inequality, Indigenous families, and big data policy. Notable awards include the 2023 Extraordinary Service Award and 2019 Teacher Recognition Award.

Advocacy includes UN Platform for Action Committee, Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund, and Legal Help Centre Board. Authored Double Jeopardy: Motherwork and the Law and two upcoming books.
