Professor Lorna Fraser Matthew Maddocks is a Professor of Palliative Care and Child Health at King's College London, affiliated with the Cicely Saunders Institute and Florence Nightingale Faculty. Her research focuses on pediatric palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions, emphasizing healthcare equity and routine data analysis. She founded the Martin House Research Centre, a multidisciplinary hub addressing care for children with terminal illnesses and their families. Fraser holds two NIHR fellowships and has influenced national policies on pediatric palliative care funding and vaccine prioritization during the pandemic.
Education: MBChB, MRCPCH, MSc, MMedSci, PhD. Awards include the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health Patient and Public Involvement Prize and the 2018 European Association of Palliative Care Postdoctoral Researcher Award.
Research interests include gender dysphoria epidemiology, parental health, and palliative care models. She co-leads projects like the UK Collaborative Paediatric Palliative Care Research Network and ICICLE, aiming to improve care for medically complex children. Fraser advocates for child-centered outcome measures (e.g., C-POS scale) and has published extensively on end-of-life care, healthcare disparities, and policy.
