Dr. Debbie Braybrook is a Researcher at King’s College London’s Cicely Saunders Institute within the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care. Her work focuses on equitable palliative care, particularly for LGBTQ+ communities and children with life-limiting conditions. She joined the institute in 2018 to advance inclusive health communication for seriously ill patients and their families.
Her research emphasizes intersectional approaches to healthcare, ensuring marginalized groups receive culturally competent care. Key projects include developing the Children’s Palliative Outcome Scale (C-POS), a child-and family-centred tool for outcome measurement, and leading the EAPC Task Force for LGBT+ Inclusive Palliative Care. She co-authored over 35 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work addressing LGBTQ+ inclusivity in health policy and barriers to advance care planning.
Dr. Braybrook’s awards include the 2022 Inclusive Education Award. She collaborates on grants like the Marie Curie-funded ACCESSCare-I project, driving LGBTQ+ inclusivity in palliative care. Teaching contributions span palliative care research methods and cultural competence in healthcare.
