Lori Lefkovitz is the Ruderman Professor of Jewish Studies and Professor of English at Northeastern University, where she directs the Jewish Studies Program. A graduate of Brandeis University (BA) and Brown University (MA, PhD), her research examines the intersection of literature, gender, and religious identity.
Research explores how foundational narratives shape cultural understandings of gender and ethnicity, with particular focus on biblical texts and their contemporary interpretations. Teaching includes courses on Jewish religion and culture, modern Jewish literature, and biblical narratives of identity formation.
