Lori Alvin is the Henry Keith and Ellen Hard Townes Associate Professor of Mathematics at Furman University. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2011 and held teaching positions in Florida, Colorado, and Illinois before joining Furman in August 2018.

Dr. Alvin's research intersects topological dynamics, continuum theory, and symbolic dynamics, with recent work exploring inverse limits generated by set-valued functions. She mentors students in projects ranging from two-player game strategies to entropy analysis of urban traffic patterns.
