Dr. Lloyd Jenkins is a Lecturer in Historical and Cultural Geography at the University of Birmingham, with a teaching-focused role in the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Wales, Lampeter (2002) and a B.A. in Archaeology and Geography from the same institution. His research explores historical geography, emphasizing landscape change and human interaction with the past, with a particular focus on urban history, architectural space, and social movements.
Dr. Jenkins' teaching responsibilities include serving as Year 1 Tutor and Joint Honours Tutor for Geography, as well as leading modules such as GGM 101, GGM 105, GGM 106a, GGM 213, and GGM 409. He also serves as Honorary Membership Secretary for the Historical Geography Research Group of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
His publications span topics like urban planning history, blended learning in higher education, and the socio-spatial dimensions of architectural design. Recent work includes studies on student mindset in academic journeys (2023) and reflections on seminar provision in cultural geography education (2019). Earlier research explored utopian urban visions, Fourierist social movements, and the interplay between architecture and geography in 19th-century Paris.
