Professor Lizzie Barmes holds the position of Professor of Labour Law at Queen Mary University of London’s School of Law. She joined in 2007 after roles at UCL, the Law Commission of England and Wales, and as a practicing solicitor specializing in employment and equality litigation. Her research focuses on equality law, employment rights, and judicial diversity, with notable works including the award-winning monograph *Bullying and Behavioural Conflict at Work* (2016). She co-directs the Centre for Law, Equality and Diversity (LEAD) and collaborates on initiatives like the Judicial Diversity Initiative. Her empirical research examines workplace conflict, NDAs, and the intersection of law with organizational psychology. Awards include the 2017 Hart Socio-Legal Book Prize.
Education: MA (Oxon), BCL (Oxon), Solicitor (non-practising). Teaching includes modules on Equality and Labour Law. Research emphasizes interdisciplinary methods, analyzing case law and policy impacts. Public engagement includes submissions to parliamentary inquiries on sexual harassment and equality enforcement.
