Adriana Orifici is a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Labour, Equality and Human Rights (LEAH) Group at the Department of Business Law and Taxation, Monash Business School. She teaches employment law to undergraduate and postgraduate students, focusing on workplace equality and legal regulation. Her research spans employment law, workplace investigations, gender discrimination, and flexible work arrangements. Adriana holds a PhD from Melbourne Law School, awarded the 2025 Harold Luntz Prize for her thesis on employer conduct during workplace investigations.
Education: PhD (Melbourne Law School), Bachelor of Arts (History), Bachelor of Laws (Honours), and Master of Laws (Melbourne University). Prior to academia, she practiced law in employment, anti-discrimination, and public sector employment at a leading Melbourne firm. She also served as a Senior Research Fellow on an ARC Discovery Project on employment discrimination law.
Research interests include empirical legal methods, workplace equality law, and legal frameworks for investigations. She has contributed to projects like the 'Equality Law Capability Project' (2024-2025) examining Victorian women's experiences of sex discrimination. Adriana is an Associate Editor of the Australian Journal of Labour Law and active in professional networks such as the Labour Law Research Network and Australian Discrimination Law Experts Group.
Her awards include the 2023 Dean's Commendation for Research Impact and the 2025 Harold Luntz Thesis Prize. Recent work addresses pregnancy discrimination, workplace flexibility, and whistleblower protections, reflecting her commitment to advancing substantive equality in employment contexts.
