Dr. Liza Lane is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of Houston-Downtown. She holds a Ph.D. and MSW in Social Work from the University of Houston, and a BA in English from Thomas Edison State University. Her teaching focuses on social justice, professional ethics, and urban practice.

Dr. Lane’s research explores young widowhood, disenfranchised grief, social justice, and trauma-informed practices. Her work addresses the intersection of immigration, mental health, and family dynamics through qualitative and mixed-methods studies.
