Liz Combs serves as Assistant Professor and Director of the Accelerated Coordinated Program (ACP) in Dietetics at the University of Kentucky's Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition within the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. She also co-directs the Undergraduate Certificate in Nutrition for Human Performance and maintains active professional certifications as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Licensed Dietitian (LD).
Her educational background includes an Ed.D. in Health Promotion (2019), M.S. in Dietetics Administration (2010), and B.S. in Dietetics (2007), all from the University of Kentucky. Combs brings practical experience from outpatient nutrition services and holds a national certification in childhood and adolescent weight management.
Combs' research focuses on assessing high-impact teaching practices' effects on student learning, particularly in education abroad contexts, with the goal of developing evidence-based pedagogical approaches. Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as Life Cycle and Community Nutrition I & II, Nutrition Issues in Physical Activity, and Community Nutrition Supervised Practice.
She maintains active professional engagement through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Kentucky Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Bluegrass Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, where she has served on boards. Her work bridges academic instruction with practical dietetics applications, emphasizing innovative teaching methods to enhance student success in nutrition education.
