Lisette Kanse

Lisette Kanse is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Psychological Science, The University of Western Australia. She teaches across multiple postgraduate programs in psychology, human sciences, business, and engineering, serving as course coordinator for the Graduate Certificate in- and Master of Business Psychology courses. Her academic work spans teaching, research, and industry collaboration focused on workplace psychology and safety.

Her educational background includes a PhD in human performance management from Eindhoven University of Technology (2004), an MSc in Industrial Safety Management from University of Central Missouri (1995), and an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from Eindhoven University of Technology (1994).

Lisette's research expertise centers on human performance management, specializing in human and organisational factors and work design characteristics that influence work practices and performance. Her work spans multiple industries including chemical, oil and gas, mining, rail transport, and healthcare settings. Key research themes include procedure use and management, front-line leadership demands, virtual teams, safety climate measurement, and safety leadership approaches.

Her recent publications demonstrate strong focus on safety storytelling, virtual team dynamics, ethical responsibility in algorithmic workplaces, and decolonizing educational approaches. These works reflect her interdisciplinary approach bridging psychology with practical workplace applications across diverse sectors.
