Lisette Kaleveld is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Impact within the Business School of The University of Western Australia. With extensive experience spanning academic research, community sector work, public service, and independent consultancy, she specializes in evaluation projects across education, health, mental health, homelessness, and legal reform initiatives including national frameworks like Closing the Gap. She actively contributes to knowledge translation through co-facilitating Australia-wide Outcomes Measurement Workshops and serves as Co-convenor of the Western Australia Branch of the Australian Evaluation Society.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in Anthropology from The University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Curtin University. These qualifications underpin her interdisciplinary approach to social research and evidence communication.
Kaleveld's research centers on social impact measurement, cross-cultural policy evaluation, and translating complex research methods into practical tools for evidence-based decision making. Her work consistently addresses systemic challenges in mental health services, homelessness interventions, aged care adaptation, and multicultural integration, emphasizing community-centered solutions and lived experience perspectives. She focuses on demystifying research processes to empower practitioners and policymakers through accessible evidence.
Her recent publications (2021-2023) reveal a strong thematic focus on crisis-responsive social services, with significant contributions to homelessness outreach, pandemic adaptation in aged care, mental health outcome frameworks, and multicultural enterprise development. These works demonstrate methodological rigor in program evaluation while maintaining practical relevance for community organizations and government agencies, particularly through co-designed measurement frameworks that incorporate stakeholder perspectives.
Kaleveld manages extensive research funding with 39 grants (4 active, 35 completed), including major projects evaluating Indigenous housing strategies, psychosocial support systems, disability governance, and social impact frameworks. Her consultancy work, such as the 2020 initiative to improve community mental health supports in Western Australia, directly informs policy implementation. She actively collaborates with organizations including Goldfields Indigenous Housing Organisation, Advocacy WA, and WARRRL on time-sensitive social challenges.
As a core member of the Centre for Social Impact, Kaleveld operates within a multidisciplinary research environment focused on generating actionable evidence for social change. Her work integrates with the Centre's national network while maintaining strong Western Australian engagement, particularly through evaluation projects addressing state-specific priorities in mental health, homelessness, and multicultural services.
