Christine Jeffries-Stokes is a Senior Lecturer at the Rural Clinical School, part of the UWA Medical School at the University of Western Australia. She is also a Paediatrician at the Western Australian Country Health Service. Her expertise spans Aboriginal health, Paediatrics, and Rural medical education. She holds qualifications including MB BS BMedSc (Tasmania), MPH (Western Australia), and FRACP (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians).
Her research focuses on environmental health impacts on Indigenous communities, particularly through the Western Desert Kidney Health Project. Key findings include linking nitrate-contaminated drinking water to increased kidney disease and diabetes rates in remote Goldfields regions. She has contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing health and environmental sustainability.
Recent articles highlight her work on paediatric hypertension guidelines, nitrate exposure effects in pregnancy, and analytical methods for environmental toxin detection. Grants include projects on heavy metals, water quality, and pregnancy complications funded by NHMRC, Stan Perron Charitable Foundation, and Telethon Trust.
