Lisa Todd is a Professor in the Department of Historical Studies at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. She specializes in modern German history, European history, gender studies, and the intersection of war and society. Her research focuses on racial citizenship, eugenics, and colonialism, funded by SSHRC grants. Todd holds a PhD from the University of Toronto (2005) and degrees from Royal Holloway College and UNB.
Her major work includes Sexual Treason in Germany during the First World War (2017), which explores wartime sexual relationships, and current projects examining racialized sexual relationships in modern Germany. She has presented widely, including at the German Studies Association and Holocaust conferences, and has supervised numerous graduate students.
Todd is a recipient of multiple teaching awards including the 2022 UNB Faculty of Arts Excellence in Teaching Award and 2010 Part-Time award. Her research spans topics like Nazi racial policies, colonial anthropology, and gendered wartime experiences. She contributes to public history through lectures and collaborates with institutions like the Gregg Centre for War Studies.
